About Rashad
Rashad Frazier is a chef-turned-entrepreneur and the co-founder of Camp Yoshi, a company dedicated to curating transformative outdoor adventures for Black people and allies. Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Frazier's early experiences with nature laid the foundation for his later ventures. After graduating from Howard University in 2009, he initially pursued a career in banking in New York City but soon transitioned to the culinary world, establishing a successful catering company that he operated for nearly eight years.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 prompted Frazier to pivot once again, combining his culinary expertise with a passion for the outdoors. Alongside his wife, Shequita, and brother, Ron, he launched Camp Yoshi, aiming to create safe and inclusive spaces for Black and brown individuals to reconnect with nature. The company offers meticulously planned trips that blend gourmet cuisine with immersive outdoor experiences, allowing participants to unplug and rejuvenate in serene environments.
Frazier's innovative approach to adventure travel has garnered attention from notable publications, including Condé Nast Traveler, where he discussed scouting new destinations like Tanzania to expand Camp Yoshi's offerings. Through Camp Yoshi, Frazier continues to challenge traditional narratives about outdoor recreation, fostering a community where people of color can confidently and comfortably explore the wilderness.
